Byre Cottage is one half of the farm steading which until 1993 housed our cattle. The exterior is little changed but the interior has been transformed into a roomy, comfortable holiday home on two floors. The kitchen, living room, hall and bathroom are on the ground floor and there are two bedrooms with one king size double and one twin room upstairs. The cottage is in a lovely location at the head of Loch Sween with excellent walks directly from your door. Despite being attached to Stable Cottage and our house, it is remarkably private. You'll hardly know you have neighbours unless you meet them outside.
Stable Cottage adjoins Byre Cottage and has south and west facing windows. It is a good cottage for families as it has a bath as well as a shower and the large hall has lots of room for wellies, outdoor gear and pushchairs. There is a baby bath, stair gate and high chair for toddlers. It is a mirror image of Byre Cottage but each cottage has its own character and style. The two bedrooms in Stable Cottage are a standard double and a twin bedded room. Both cottages are about 150 metres from the head of Loch Sween.
Kirkland, a timber built lodge on one level, stands in its own woodland garden and has uninterrupted views of Loch Sween. The lounge area has a leather sofa and armchairs around a fantastic woodburning stove. You can launch small boats and canoes from the foreshore, twenty metres from your door on the other side of the single track road. It sleeps 3 plus a cot in two small bedrooms, one with a standard double and the other with a standard single. It is particularly recommended for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The front of the lodge faces west and the evening sky can be quite spectacular. Kirkland is a mile and a half south of Seafield so we are not far away if you need us.
